A group of bikers have just completed their 18th annual motorcycle run to add a further £2,500 to the £47,000 they have already raised over 
the years for various causes.

Around 90 riders joined this years Kilham Wednesday Night Bikers Stephen Cowton Memoirial Easter Egg charity bike run.

As is the tradition it began with bacon butties at the Bay Horse in Kilham before this year the riders set off for the Bridlington Club For Young People in Thorpe Street, Bridlington, around 11am.

he club, which offers a variety of sporting activities for under nines to under 18s, is their chosen charity for 2014.

The run was started in memory of Stephen Cowton who died aged 18 of a heart condition and the club, through his biker father Fran Cowton, takes part in the memorial run to benefit a cause which helps young people in medical or other ways.

On Sunday their route took them to Driffield then Fridaythorpe and on toward Malton followed by Staxton, Hunmanby, Flamborough and into Bridlington where they gave the club Easter eggs and other goodies.

Later on Sunday the riders returned to the Bay Horse for a social evening with raffle, tombola and an auction which raised around £1,000 of the total.

Kilham Wednesday Night Bikers meet every Wednesday at 6.30pm at G.Boyes The Garage Kilham, usually starting 1st week of April.

They organise ride outs during spring and summer months to various locations in Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire moors, and the East coast. Most rides take place on scenic routes, stopping for tea and coffee at various locations. They end up at the Bay Horse, Kilham for supper.

The club also meet on some Sundays for early morning breakfast runs.

The club point out that these are ride outs not races and are open to all, whatever motorbike they ride.
