Dust off your onesies, break out the fluffy slippers and join us for a ladies-only moonlit walk over East Yorkshire’s iconic Humber Bridge. The slumber party, in aid of Dove house Hospice, begins at registration from 10pm this Saturday 26th July at the Humber Bridge Country Park car park, with music entertainment and slumber party refreshments. The eight-mile course will begin at the stroke of midnight and will be a circular route over the Humber Bridge and back again.

Registration costs £13, which includes a free Midnight Walk 2014 t-shirt, an array of glow in the dark accessories and well-deserved cookies and cocoa on completion of the walk. Each walker is also encouraged to raise a minimum of £20 through sponsorship to help raise vital funds for Dove House Hospice.

We welcome women and girls of all ages, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Free parking is available in the Humber Bridge Country Park car park. A keen supporter of Dove House Hospice, Hannah Wray, describes why she thinks it is important to be part of this event: “This year I’m doing the Midnight walk in memory of my Grandad who sadly passed away in Dove House Hospice. I am doing the walk as a way to say a huge thank you for the compassion and care shown to him and my family in his last few weeks. I hope others will join me in raising as much money as possible, so that other families can receive the same outstanding care and love.”

Amanda Ashburner, fundraising co-ordinator at the hospice, said: “We hope hosting our annual Midnight Walk at one of Hull’s iconic landmarks will attract new and old crowds to this event. With the route a more challenging eight miles this year, we also hope our supporters will feel inspired to test themselves and raise vital funds for Dove House Hospice.”

Whether you would like to walk in memory of a loved one, help to support Dove House Hospice, or just enjoy a unique night out, the charity encourages ladies to don their best nightwear and join them for the event. You can register by visiting: www.dovehouse.org.uk/midnightwalk or call: 01482 785 743 to request an entry form.

Dove House Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults in Hull and East Yorkshire living with life-limiting illnesses. The patient and their family are at the heart of everything we do and the patient, not the illness, is the focus of our care. All of our services are free for patients and their families, but not free to provide. Dove House Hospice is only funded for the equivalent of 42 days therefore it is the support of the local community and events like this which enable us to provide the care for the remaining 323 days.

If your man is feeling left out, or you are unable to participate in this event, you can still help. Dove House Hospice needs volunteers to help marshal the event and ensure a safe night is had by all. If you can lend a helping hand, or you would like more information, call: 01482 785743 or e-mail fundraising@dovehouse.org.uk
