Mrs Eileen Foster

A funeral service was held at the Methodist Church, Nafferton on Monday, February 25 for Mrs Eileen Foster of Millingdale Farm who died suddenly in hospital on February 15. She was aged 89 years.

The service was conducted by the Rev Robert Amos and the organist was Sarah Sellar.

Eileen was born in Beeford, the only child of Frederick and Emily Broumpton, and was brought up at Manor Farm, Gembling. She attended Gembling School and then Bridlington High School for Girls and went on to teach at Gembling School.

In 1947 she married Reg Foster and they lived at Millingdale Farm where she remained until her death. Eileen was always busy helping Reg on the farm, especially at lambing time, rearing calves and looking after poultry as well as caring for the family. Millingdale was always an open house and there would be a cup of tea and a piece of cake for anyone who called.

Eileen and Reg were happily married for almost fifty years until Reg sadly died three months before their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Eileen and Reg attended Kelk Chapel all their lives until Eileen was not well enough to continue and she was the organist there for many years. She loved reading, doing crosswords and gardening. In their younger days she and Reg played tennis for Nafferton.

She loved being surrounded by her family and was always pleased to see her ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

She will be greatly missed.
