Police have renewed their appeal to find missing man Simon Hodgson-Greaves who was reported missing on December 21.

Officers have teamed up with the Missing People charity to help boost their appeal, and released a new picture of Mr Hodgson-Greaves.

Concern for the 48-year-old, from Riccall, near Selby, was raised when his camper van was found unoccupied at the RSPB visitor centre car park on Bempton Cliffs near Bridlington. He was last seen with the van the day before, Friday December 20, at the same location.

PC Scott Gatman of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Simon’s family are worried sick about him and just want him home. I am appealing to any members of the public, including motorists, public transport workers, passengers and walkers who believe they have seen Simon or given him a lift since Friday 20 December to contact the police as a matter of urgency.

“Better still, if Simon sees or hears this appeal, please get in touch with friends, family, the police or the Missing People charity and let us know that you are safe and well.

“The Missing People charity can be contacted in confidence if you do not want to contact the police.”

Simon was last seen by a member of his family on Sunday 15 December. He is known to go on frequent camping trips and likes to go walking. He also has an interest in the RSPB and had visited the area in the past. It is now known that Simon had been staying in his van on and off for a number of weeks.

Although it is not unusual for Simon be away for days at a time, police are growing increasingly for his safety due to his lack of contact with his family and his lack of shelter.

Officers are exploring the possibility that Simon had gone walking in the area and may have got into difficulties. Or that he may have left the area on foot, perhaps using public transport or has been given a lift by a member of the public.

Humberside Police have searched the Bempton Cliffs area on foot and using air support, but there was no sign of Simon.

Simon is described as white, around 6ft tall and of slim build.

He has sandy coloured hair, a greying beard and moustache, blue eyes and wears spectacles. It is not known what he will be wearing, however, he is known to dress smartly and often wears tweed jackets, shirts and scarves.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass information to the Force Control Room.

The Missing People charity can be contacted on 116 000, the line is open 24 hours a day and information can be passed confidentially.
