Ploughing on for charity
A vintage ploughing match in aid of the work of the Macmillan Nurses was held on Sunday at Station Farm, Nafferton, by permission of Alwyn Baron.
A total 43 ploughmen took part and organisers have offered their thanks to local businessmen for donations and raffle prizes.
The event raised 923 in aid of Macmillan nurses work in Driffield.
Results were as follows:
Classic hydraulic ploughs: 1 Andrew Cage, 2 Pete Gilson, 3 Harry Berriman; best turned out of the day: Andrew Cage; grey Ferguson tractor and Ferguson plough: 1 Ken Suggitt, 2 Dave Bogg; trailer ploughs: 1 Frank Millington, 2 Harry Jackson, 3 Geoff Dibb; best finish: Harry Jackson; best work with a Ford tractor and Ransome plough: Frank Millington; vintage hydraulic ploughs: Bryan Rogerson, 2 Gordon Sunley, 3 Malc Lacy; best work with a David Brown plough: 1 Malc Lacy; best turn out of the day: Mike Harper; best work with a David Brown tractor: Peter Dry.
