Police issue e-fit after man injured after tackling intruder in York

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured while confronting an intruder in York.

The man, suffered two broken ribs when he tackled the intruder in his back garden in Horseman Lane, Copmanthorpe, at around 9am on Friday 6 December 2013.

Following the incident the intruder fled from the scene and officers believe he headed for the centre of Copmanthorpe or towards Hallcroft Lane.

He is described as white, aged in is late teens or early 20s, around 5ft 10in tall, with a stocky build and dark hair. He was wearing a dark grey hooded-top, jeans and white trainers.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw anyone matching the intruder’s description in the area around the time of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Matt Dodson, of York CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw a man running from the scene of this incident or through Copmanthorpe on Friday morning to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers.

“It is believed that the suspect may have sustained some injuries in the incident, so I would also ask people to come forward if they know of anyone who came home with any unexplained injuries on Friday.”
