SEARCH IS ON FOR YORKSHIRE YOUNG ACHIEVERS
Do you know a talented young footballer, a budding entrepreneur or a youngster who deserves real recognition for their community work?
Now is your chance to nominate them for a Yorkshire Young Achievers Award.
The Awards, sponsored by McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate, are open to anyone aged under 35 and born, living or working in Yorkshire.
Previous winners have included BBC Radio 1's Chris Moyles, the Kaiser Chiefs and heptathlete Jessica Ennis but nominees don't have to be famous – just talented, hard working or courageous.
Awards Chairman Peter McCormick OBE said: "This is a very special year for the Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards as it is both our 18th birthday and marks the creation of a new charity, the Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation, which will allow us to raise even more money."
The Awards have raised more than 800,000 to support young people across the Yorkshire region since they began.
There are seven categories of awards as follows:
• Personality of the Year, sponsored by McCormicks Solicitors
• Youngster of the Year, sponsored by DFS
• Unsung Hero, sponsored by Leslie Silver OBE
• Achievement in the Arts, sponsored by the Yorkshire Evening Post
• Achievement in Education, sponsored by Martin Penny
• Achievement in Management and Enterprise, sponsored by Begbies Traynor
• Achievement in Sport, sponsored by Leeds United Football Club.
All you have to do to nominate someone is visit the website at www.yorkshireyoungachievers.co.uk. If you don't have internet access, you can ring Sonia Jones on 01423 530630 and ask for a nomination form. The closing date for entries is Sunday 12 September.
The results will be announced at the Awards Dinner at Leeds United's Conference and Events Centre on Thursday 25 November.
