Storm damage round up: Humberside Fire and Rescue respond to large number of weather calls

Humberside Fire and Rescue responded to a large volume of calls as storms battered the East Yorkshire area yesterday.

Below is a round up of the weather related incidents:

Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 23:36 (02078).

Fluorescent lighting hanging dangerously from nightclub signage. Fire Service moved to safe position utilising ceiling hook.

Brentwood Avenue, Hardwick Street, Hull.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 23:04 (02075).

Roof aerial dangerously hanging from telephone lines. Fire Service removed using short extension ladder and small gear.

Ashbourne Court, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 23:04 (02076).

Fallen and precariously leaning trees. Minor damage caused to roof aerials. Inspection only by Fire Service. Incident left with Police who were organising council attendance.

Scarborough Road, Stepney Avenue, Bridlington.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 21:51 (02066).

Fallen tree. Inspection only by Fire Service. Incident left with Police.

Queen Street, Bridlington.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 21:32 (02063).

Shop sign hanging dangerously from premise frontage. Fire Service removed utilising reciprocating saw and short extension ladder.

Bridlington.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 21:26 (02060).

Fire Service removed dangerously placed tiles from roof and guttering. Unsafe area cordoned off. 10.5 metre ladder in use.

Bodmin Road, Bude Road, Hull.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 21:23 (02059).

Precarious garage roofing made safe by Fire Service. Reciprocating saw in use.

Victor Street, Cope Way, Grimsby.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 21:07 (02057).

Rubbish fire in garden. One hose reel in use.

Taylor Street, Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 20:45 (02052).

Fire Service manually removed fallen roof aerial from front of house.

Stanhope Street, Goole.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 20:16 (02045).

Roof tiles fallen from various buildings prior to arrival of Fire Service. Inspection only. No action by Fire Service.

Queen Street, King Street, Bridlington.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 20:12 (02044).

Fire Service removed precariously hanging lead flashing from one bay window and secured the roofing of another. Aerial Ladder Platform in use.

Third Avenue, Flixborough.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 20:05 (02043).

Factory wall collapsed due to wind. Fire Service cordoned off unsafe area. Advice given to works personnel.

Arthur Street, Hull Road, Withernsea.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:58 (02040).

Fire Service removed dangerous roof tiles from guttering. Short extension ladder in use.

Bridlington.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:50 (02038).

Precarious chimney stack on roof of property. Fire Service inspected using Aerial Ladder Platform and cordoned off unsafe area. Occupier advised to contact builder.

Princes Avenue, Withernsea.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:49 (02036).

Fire Service attended to make roof safe. Precarious panel had blown away prior to arrival of Fire Service. Inspection only.

Hook Road, Riversdale Drive, Goole.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:33 (02030).

Report of dangerous tree. Tree fell prior to arrival of Fire Service. Inspection only.

Orchard Park Road, Hull.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:30 (02026).

Fire Service removed unsafe boards from scaffolding. Short extension ladder in use.

Tiverton Road, Hull.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:23 (02023).

Small rubbish fire. One hose reel in use.

Marian Way, Bradley Road, Waltham.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 19:17 (02022).

Fire Service removed ridge tile guttering to make safe.

Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 18:57 (02014).

Fire Service removed loose ridge tiles from roof of restaurant. Aerial platform in use.

Carlisle Street, Goole.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 18:56 (02013).

Slates falling from roof onto roadway. Fire Service inspected and cordened off unsafe area. Police informed.

Little Coates Road, Cambridge Road, Grimsby.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 18:46 (02007).

Dangerous scaffolding structure made safe manually. Incident left with scaffolding company.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 17:58 (01986).

Articulated lorry blown on to side. Male driver self released prior to arrival of Fire Service. Windscreen saw in use to gain access to battery. Fire Service made vehicle safe by disconnecting battery and isolating electrics to trailer. Driver left with Ambulance Service. Incident left with Police.

Redbourne Road, Redbourne.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 16:55 (01982).

Chimney fire. Fire Service removed wooden mantle from fire place. Chimney rods, stirrup pump, hose reel and small tools in use.

Grimsby.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 16:48 (01981).

Fire Service removed precariously positioned ridge and roof tiles from two storey building roof. Aerial Ladder Platform in use.

Davenport Drive, Clee Road, Cleethorpes.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 16:13 (01977).

Aerial in precarious postion on roof. Fire Service used 10.5 meter ladder and working at heights kit to remove.

Willingham Street, Hainton Avenue, Grimsby.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 15:34 (01974).

Unsafe chimney pot brought down from roof of house. 13.5 ladder, working at heights gear and general purpose line in use.

Snaith Road, East Cowick.

Incident occurred on Wednesday 12 February 2014 at 14:31 (01971).

Metal container blown against fence by high winds causing possible damage to adjacent flat roof. Advice given to occupier.
