The gates were opened

HISTORY was made over the weekend as one of the final stages of the Driffield Navigation regeneration project was unveiled.

The gates to the fifth and final Wansford Lock were opened during Saturday’s ceremony which saw civic dignitaries and supporters make history by taking a short boat trip along the canal.

Driffield Mayor Steve Poessl cut the red ribbon at the entrance to the lockpit at Wansford which was last used by boats 60 years ago.
