A funeral service was held at the East Riding Crematorium on Friday, 24 January for Mrs Doris Dean of Glenfield Nursing Home who died peacefully in Glenfield on 16 January. She was aged 92 years.

The service was conducted by the Rev Jacki Tonkin.

Doris was the middle of three daughters to George and Miriam Wharram of Middle Street North, Driffield. Her father was a local coal merchant and later a local taxi propieter. She had two sisters and her elder sister Freda still lives in Scunthorpe with her huband Norman, her younger sister Audrey sadly passed away several years ago. Doris was educated at schools in Nafferton and Driffield. After leaving school she worked at Longbottom’s lemonade factory on Victoria Road, Driffield. During the second world war she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Army and it was there in 1943 that she married her husband Leslie Linford Dean. They went on to have two sons Stuart and Keith.
