Thieves struck twice in villages areas around Driffield - taking farm gates along the B1253 Cowlam to Cottam Road and a trailer from Station Road, Lockington
The owner of the gates lives in a rural location and has a number of fields in the vicinity which are secured from vehicles entering them by five bar wooden gates. Overnight on Friday 7 February, two sets of double gates and one single gate were lifted from their hinges. Police believe a vehicle and trailer was used to transport the gates from the scene. Farmwatch has been contacted so they can make the farming community aware and advise them to be vigilant.
A trailer was stolen during the same night from a farm yard in Lockington which was secured with locked steel gates. The locks were cut and discarded. The thieves took a 14ft IFOR Williams trailer with a wooden floor, which had been left in the yard.
