Tractor run funds for good cause
More than £1,200 raised at the third annual East Riding YFC Charity Tractor Road Run has been presented to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).
Each charity received 610.80 from the event, which took place on Sunday June 6 when 90 tractor enthusiasts braved rain and set off from Laburnum Farm, Etton, near Beverley on a 28-mile route.
Drivers who took part were from all parts of the East Riding including Driffield, Preston, Bridlington and Holme on Spalding Moor.
The cheque presentation was made to the two charities at Driffield Show.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a charity close to the heart of many people who live and work in rural areas who never know when they may need the fast response emergency service.
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is a grant-making charity that supports members of the farming community facing need, hardship or distress.
Sally Conner accepted the cheque on behalf of RABI.
She said: "The RABI are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year and the tractor run has been one of many events which has raised not only money for us – it has also helped raise awareness for our charity."
One of the tractor run organisers, Jenny Sleight, said: "Plans are already underway for next year's event – we are hoping that we'll get over 100 tractors taking part."
