Use it or lose it warning over Driffield School Christmas Craft Fair

Residents have been warned they may lose the annual Driffield School Christmas Craft Fair if more people do not pass through the doors this year.

The 17th Christmas Craft Fair will be held at the school next Sunday, November 29.

This year a record 85 exhibitors from all over Yorkshire and Lincolnshire will be turning the school into an Aladdin's Cave of crafts.

However, members of the Driffield School Association, which organises the fair, have warned that unless more people attend than last year it may be the last year the fair is held.

Keith Harris, event organiser for the association, said: "Last year only about 700 people visited the event due to the Sledmere House Christmas event being on the same date.

"This year the school event has been brought forward a week and hopefully the people of Driffield and the surrounding area will support the school.

"It will be a case of use it or lose it."

The 85 exhibitors at this year's fair make it the biggest indoor event ever held in Driffield. Stalls will sell everything from cheeses and crystals to soaps and ceramics.

An additional attraction this year will be a local photographer who will be setting up a studio to take family or individual portraits to take away on the day.

Mr Harris said: "We would like to see more than 1,500 people pass through the doors.

"Those who do visit will not be disappointed."

The fair will be open from 10am until 3.30pm.

Admission is 1 for adults, 75p for children and accompanied children under 11 go free.

Refreshments will be available. Ample parking will be available on the school site.
