Vandals strike on Christmas eve on Driffield streets

Humberside Police are appealing for information following three counts of vandalism to cars parked in Driffield on Christmas eve.

At around 1.30am on Christmas Eve, three males damaged a Silver Daihatsu Convertible parked on St. John’s Road near the junction of Spencers Way. A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “They snapped off the rear wiper blade and scratched the bonnet in the process. They also removed the rear aerial from the vehicle before making off.”

After damaging the vehicle the group walked a few meters down Spencer’s Way and approached the front of a semi-detached house.

The windscreen wiper from the Daihatsu was thrown at the front door of the house with force causing the glass to smash.

The police spokesperson added: “The elderly resident, who is in his 90’s, was in the house at the time.”

The three unknown males then continued onto Woldholme Avenue, where they set about a green VW Polo which was parked securely on the street.

The driver’s side wing mirror was damaged and the passenger side wing mirror smashed and the plastic casing damaged.
