Michael Newbury, Director at the National Audit Office, has joined York Housing Association in a non executive role.
Mr Newbury has been appointed as Chair of Audit with responsibilities for overseeing the Association’s financial governance.
Julia Histon, Chief Executive of York HA, said: “Michael’s financial knowledge and expertise will be a great asset to us as we continue to grow and I’m delighted that he is joining our team of non executives.”
Mr Newbury, who lives at Wetwang, East Yorkshire said:”I am passionate about social housing not least because I was brought up in a council house.
“A lot of what I have achieved is down to having a safe and solid home which gave me the foundations to build any success I’ve enjoyed.
“The work being carried out by York HA is making a real difference to people’s lives and I am looking forward to playing a part in the Association’s continued success.”
Among Mr Newbury’s responsibilities at the National Audit Office is the external audit of the England’s 34 probation trusts. He has worked in public and private sector organisations in both audit and financial management roles.
York Housing Association provides a range of housing and support services to approximately 850 households in Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire.
