Nafferton Parish Council has taken over the running of the village recreation club.
At the AGM of Nafferton Recreation Club, all four of the trustees resigned, allowing the Nafferton Parish Council to take over the running of the site as the new “sole trustee”.
This follows many months of discussion between the Parish Council and the outgoing trustees on how to best ensure the future of the club and make best use of the facilities to benefit all of the residents of the village of Nafferton. The Rec Club is a charity and trustees first started discussions with the parish council about taking over the Rec Club, a process that has taken about a year after the necessary legal checks, due diligence and requests to the charities commission. Finally all the checks have been completed and the handing over of the running of the Rec Club to the Parish Council took place at this years AGM.
Vice chair of Nafferton Parish Council, Mike Jackson, said: “We hope that the Parish Council running the Rec Club now will encourage it to be used by all the residents of the village to use these facilities, alongside continuing the current sports teams. By allowing village residents to play football and tennis on the hardcourts we hope to encourage them to meet the teams and join up to strengthen the village teams and bring in some new members. We are in a period of transition at the moment as the Parish Council finds it feet but its up and running for the coming season”
The facilities at the Club include the cricket pitch, football, bowling green, and floodlit tennis courts. To find out more or join a team call Mike Jackson on 01377 240 625 or visit http://www.nafferton.net/village-directory/765/nafferton-recreation-club/
