A one-stop e-market place has been launched to help people who have care and support needs to access advice, services and products that will help them retain their independence.
Connect to Support East Riding is an easy-to-use website which is aimed at helping people who have care needs find a range of services.
The site will be particularly useful for those people who fund their own support or who receive a cash personal budget as it allows them to choose goods or services from a wide range of providers.
The e-market place provides many benefits for individuals and these include:
* taking control of your own support
* searching and shopping for products and services online
* finding community groups and activities
* managing your personal budget online
* finding the right information and advice
The website, which started as a regional project in 2010, can also be accessed by relatives and carers, some of whom may live away, so they can ensure the needs of their loved one are being met.
Councillor Richard Harrap, portfolio holder for adult and carer services at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This is an innovative scheme which is trying to make the best use of modern technology to give people the opportunity to choose the services that are personal to them.
“The website can be accessed by carers and relatives too, who may not live locally. They can help choose the support needed for their loved on, which will also give them some peace of mind.”
The website can be found at https://connecttosupport.org and click on East Riding.
