With over 2,500 visitors attending with almost £30,000 raised, the Fire Festival team’s hard work and months of preparation certainly paid off.

Visitors came from as far away as Scotland, Wales, London, Europe, New Zealand, Hong Kong, USA and across the whole of England!

The Festival Organiser, Jane Emmerson, said;

“The 2022 Flamborough Fire Festival was absolutely amazing this time with huge publicity from around the world. Flamborough features as the BuzzFeed’s fourth most popular place to visit on New Year’s Eve, after Madrid, Paris, Istanbul and then Flamborough!

“The BBC feed also rated Flamborough as their second most popular New Year’s Eve Festival after Edinburgh!

“It is absolutely astounding how the popularity of the Festival has grown with visitors travelling for hundreds of miles to see the Festival and visit Flamborough as the ‘home of the Vikings’!

“It is particularly fantastic to know that local accommodation is booked months in advance with local businesses really benefiting from the Festival”

“The Team are delighted that the event now promotes so much tourism for Flamborough and East Yorkshire with requests for local accommodation, food and refreshments in big demand.

“We understand people are already booking accommodation for this year’s Festival with a high demand for tickets.

“The Festival Team are pleased that the event raised almost £30,000 however, would like to point out that event set up costs have increased significantly, due to inflation and the global economic crisis, with costs such as; insurance, security marshals, medical support, fireworks, etc. all increased substantially this year.”

Also of note are the funds raised via a street collection which was a total of £1,902.38.

The funds raised will be split between a number of charities and local groups. The Organising Team’s official chosen charities are: Flamborough Primary School; Flamborough Sports Club Trust; St. Oswald's Parish Church; Get Kids Going!; Flamborough Methodist Church; Flamborough Lifeboat; Bridlington Lifeboat and Flamborough Tuesday Club
