Katie Ventress helping stars of tomorrow
AN actress is to bring home her passion for the stage and screen.
Katie Ventress, who was born in Driffield, is to teach a one-off workshop for young children in her home town.
With West End and television credits to her name, the 26-year-old will show a class of four to seven-year-olds the skills of the trade.
Katie, who attended Driffield School until she took a place at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy in London, said that since leaving home she always knew she would return to give children here a taste of the acting trade.
She said: "I have wanted to bring something back here, but have always been too busy.
"When I was growing up there was almost nothing of drama here so my mum used to take me to Hull. There is a lot more now."
Katie, whose parents Val and Mike live in Thornholme, also has five years experience teaching singing, dancing and drama to young children and hopes to boost the confidence of any child who comes to her class.
Katie is to teach dances from High School Musical, songs from Oliver and arts and crafts skills during the three-day workshop from July 28 to August 1 between 10am and 3pm.
It will culminate in a performance on the Friday afternoon of a show set in the jungle with a script written by Katie and songs and dances learned throughout the week.
