Town's young actors have sights set on Edinburgh Festival
DRIFFIELD'S budding young actors are heading onwards and upwards and have plans to perform at the Edinburgh Festival.
Pupils at the Star Struck Theatre Academy have just returned from performing a show in London - the culmination of nearly a year of hard work.
They impressed a 400-strong audience at a London theatre with their commitment and tutor, Jez Francis, said the group of 13 pupils had done extremely well.
The Star Struck pupils performed The Songs That Won The War which showcased the singing, acting and dance skills they had learned throughout the year.
Jez said: "They were a bit gobsmacked at first. The show was slightly different to the one they performed here, they had to adapt which they did really well.
"It was really hard work."
The Driffield-based theatre group's first year is now drawing to a close but already they are hoping to organise a trip to perform at this year's Edinburgh Festival.
Jez said it can cost up to £7,000 to take a show to the Scottish capital during its world famous arts festival and fundraising will be underway shortly.
Star Struck are hoping Ann Nolan will be visiting Driffield to help in this and there are also plans for a George Michael tribute act to perform later in the year.
The academy has recently expanded to include adult and infant classes. Adults are due to stage a performance of A Night At The Musical.
The beginning of the new Star Struck term later this year will be marked with the arrival of a new teacher.
Katie Mason is to start as the new dance teacher for Star Struck Theatre Academy.
