FULL Victory provided just that for connections in the feature race of Beverley's card on Wednesday afternoon.
The six-year-old got his head in front near the line to win the Graham and Rosen Handicap under Dane O'Neill and claim the near £13,000 first prize.

The race, which is one of the most valuable to be staged on the Westwood throughout the 2008 seaso
n, had attracted a healthy field of 17 to post, and the first four were separated by little more than a length.

One of the other big winners of the day was jockey Darryll Holland, who rode a double on the card.

He steered Snowed Under home to win the mile and a quarter handicap before teaming up with 16-1 shot Casino Night in the White Rabbit Handicap over the extended seven furlongs.

But perhaps the most eye-catching performance of the day came in the opening two-year-old maiden contest, where Deadly Encounter cruised up by nine lengths.

The Richard Fahey trained runner will certainly have gone into many punters' notebooks after such an impressive display on his racecourse debut.

Elsewhere, tight finishes continued to be the order of the day, with as little as a nose separating winner Blue Jack from Supermassive Muse in the three-year-old sprint handicap.

Namir edged out favourite Glasshoughton by half a length in the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap for the older horses over the same five furlongs.

And Wulimaster came from last to first to claim the money in the closing mile and a half contest.
