HUNDREDS of pounds were raised for a primary school serving two villages near Driffield at the weekend, despite the poor weather conditions.
The annual summer fete at Beswick and Watton Primary School raised £509.39 for school funds.

A spokesman for the organisers said that the event had escaped largely unscathed, although the total raised was slightly down on previous years.

She said a handful of trade stallholders had also not attended the fair, which they believed was down to the bad weather forecast.
