Welcome North Wolds Pool fans to the final write up of yet another season.
Might we say firstly a big thank you to all, and to all the players who have been contacting us regarding the pool write up and league tables, apologies but due to certain teams in these last few weeks not handing in results, I have been unable to co
llate all the results and tables in time. However, we now have the full picture to report.
A League
This was once again a very close thing between the three likely pretenders -Cricket Club B (the old Tiger Beeford), Bay Horse Driffield A ( the old Cricket Club A) and the Buck A team.
Buck A were helped this season by the great individual performance of the captain D Mabbett and the play of B Chard - both were tied for the most consistent winning a great 17 games each, and automatically earned their position in the Valhalla Cup. Buck finished the season well to claim the first place, as they were undefeated since February 12, losing just two games all season.
Second place went to battling Cricket Club B – who once again this season were fighting for the top spot, and were leading by five points with Buck to play their last match. Unfortunately for the Cricket Club, Buck won but nothing should be taken away from the Cricket Club – they have some good results this season, and have lost only four matches all season.
Third place went to Bay Horse Driffield A, ably helped by the consistent performance of captain J Dowling, also through to the Valhalla Cup, with 16 wins this season. Bay Horse started very well but could not maintain strong results, not winning as convincingly as the Buck or the Cricket Club B. They finished adrift of second place by 10 points.
In fourth place were Tiger B who, in their first season in A League proved they deserve to be there - a very strong team of players, captained by G Foster, and given some time could be possibly challenging for the top places.
Fifth place went to seasoned campaigners Bay Horse Kilham A - always a tough team to beat in the league, with M Proctor winning a respectable 13 games this season and other team mates not far behind.
Finishing sixth and a way back points-wise were Spread Eagle A, with captain J Walton their most consistent player with 13 wins. This season Spread have had good and bad results, having a bad run at the start playing the top three in their first five matches. They fought back well.
Standing in seventh place is I Berriman’s Cricket Club A, who showed better results this season, especially in beating their other team, Cricket Club B.
The last two safe places this season were taken by the Rose and Crown Middleton and Mariners Arms A.
