Co-managers Scott Barron and Dave Harrison made three changes to the team that heroically earned a draw against Northern Tigers (see page 35). Harley Smith, young gun Callum Sinclair,
and Steven Pinkney all came in to replace Scott Woodhead, who was unavailable due to work commitments and James Barron who dropped to the substitutes bench due to a recurring pelvic injury.

Hessle began the game on top with many raids down the Cranswick right being snuffed out by Jon Blakeston. However despite their best efforts, Cranswick went a goal behind after 15 minutes when Hessle’s striker, Jamie Dunlin, rounded Grant Halder and slotted the ball home, despite a despairing effort to clear by James Richardson.

After 20 minutes Cranswick’s John Lant nearly equalised when his effort from 25 yards hit the Hessle crossbar.

Hessle took charge in the second half and Grant Halder, having one of his best games of the season, made three magnificent saves, before being beaten by a shot from the edge of the area. However Cranswick didn’t go down without a fight. They won a free kick on the halfway line which was taken by Richardson. He found Ross Harrison who flicked the ball on for Jon Blakeston to finish smartly for his third goal in three matches.

After this goal Cranswick went to three at the back and though they created some more chances they were inevitably punished by the impressive Dunlin, who went on to score two more goals.
