THE Driffield Evening Cup moves towards the conclusion of its third round with only the much delayed second round tie between holders Ebberston and Driffield RUFC preventing the full semi final line up being known.
Ebberston however duly brushed aside the RUFC challenge on Monday, restricting the Driffield side to 111-8 (J Sutton 30, E Craggs 3-14, P Webster 4-18) and then knocking off the runs quickly for the loss of just one wicket. T Bumby made 54 and T Brough was 47no.
In a low scoring match last Friday Driffield U17s made it into the semi final of the Richardson-Ford sponsored competition, holding Staxton to 88-8, then knocking off the runs for the loss of five wickets. For Staxton R Pinder top scored with 24, the Driffield wicket takers being Sam Tennant 3-12, J Greaveson 2-16 and T Chippendale 2-25.
Dan Broumpton led the Driffield reply with 44 with only L Scott's 2-5 troubling the young Driffield batting side.
Ebberston now play Flamborough next Monday, July 6, the winners taking on Driffield U17s on Wednesday, July 8.
Driffield AN XI play Foords in the other semi final on Friday, July 10.
