THE Driffield and District AF League will once again have three divisions when the new soccer season opens on September 12.
Last week’s League AGM decided that the divisions will each have 11 teams playing, after welcoming some new teams and saying goodbye to other clubs who are either moving on to pastures new or disbanding.

Clubs new to the league are Hutton Cranswic
k SRA who will play at Rotsea Lane, and Bridlington sides Quay Leisure and Bridlington Snooker Centre, both of whom will play their home games at Gypsey Road, Bridlington.

Two clubs have changed their names - last season’s Premier League runners up and Challenge Cup finalists Hutton Cranswick United 3rds will play as Driffield FC, and Mermaid have become Beaconsfield.

Teams leaving the league are the long serving North Burton and FC Corner Bar 2nd who are both not continuing, while Hutton Cranswick United reserves, who won Division One last season, are returning to play in the Country League.

The allocations committee have promoted Burton Agnes, Middleton Rovers and Langtoft, who finished second, third and fourth in last season’s Division One, into the Premier Division, with Stirling Castle dropping back into Division One.

Bay Horse Kilham, North Frodingham and Bridlington Seabirds come up into Division One and Nafferton OB and Rose & Crown are relegated into Division Two.

Brid Snooker Centre (Division One) are the highest allocated team of the newcomers, while Quay Leisure and Hutton Cranswick SRA both start life in Division Two.

With eleven teams in each league, one side in each division will have a free week.
