CE Electric UK, the electricity distributor for Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, is extending its support of Driffield athletes through a sponsorship deal with England Athletics - Yorkshire & Humberside.
This is the third year CE Electric UK has supported the regional sports body in its bid to help develop athletic talent across the region in the run up to the 2012 Olympics.

The new funding for 2008/09 will go towards England Athletics - Yorkshire & Humberside's 'Switched onto Athletics' training performance programme as well as contributing towards the cost of more coaches to train and mentor youngsters from Driffield.

The 'Switched onto Athletics' scheme helps current and future sporting stars from Driffield to achieve outstanding competition results.

"Some of Britain's most talented up-and-coming athletes hail from the area, but it is vital we continue to nurture them in the run up to 2012," says Marie Dixon, regional manger at England Athletics - Yorkshire & Humberside.

David Gill, head of customer service at CE Electric UK commented: "We're continuing to support regional athletics as it is a sport that is accessible to youngsters of all ages and backgrounds.

"We hope our backing will give more athletes the opportunity to excel in their field and make a real difference to their health and quality of life."

CE Electric UK's sponsorship has been matched by Sportsmatch and the National Sports Foundation.
