Driffield Mixed Pairs compete for Robinson Cup

The lady and gentlemen bowlers of the Driffield Mixed Bowls Club and Driffield Recreation Bowls Club competed for the Robinson Cup for Mixed Pairs, at Driffield Recreation Club on Saturday, June 27.

Forty players making 20 pairs took part.

Play was over 18 ends, and after a most enjoyable afternoon’s bowling - despite threatened rain which fortunately did not materialise - the winners were Jan Holman and Frank Oxtoby, with a score of plus 17.

Runners up with a score of plus 11 were Brenda Hallett and Alwyn Baron.

The trophy to the winners was presented by club captains, Percy Ashbridge and Alwyn Baron.

Following the presentation all the players adjourned to the Recreation Club pavilion to participate in anexcellent tea provided by the ladies.
