No luck for FC at league leaders

After last week’s embarrsing display at Withernsea, FC travelled to the league leaders knowing they were in for a hard game.

From the off the FC back four were under pressure, and within 10 minutes found themselves one down. After poor decision making by the referee awarding Town a penalty, which was taken well, giving the returning Briggs in the FC goal no chance.

Within the following 15 minutes FC were on the back foot playing against a team who passed the ball around nicely, however also having to contend with the strong cross field winds, then two attacks in the space of three minutes meant Town extended their lead with two good goals to make it 3-0.

FC players rallied together and started to play the better football, and this lead to Scarborough making silly over the top challenges. First the tackle on Kember was badly timed, the referee let this go and then on 40 minutes, following neat foot work by Eyres was met with a horrid challenge that should have seen Town reduced to ten men, however the referee then decided to only dish out a yellow card.

FC were now creating the best chances and had two disallowed goals in the final few moments of the first half.

The second half began with Liam Sowersby getting a chance to impress out wide and this instantly gave FC the edge on the wing with his clever passing. FC created chance after chance. However lady luck was not on their side.

The FC defence kept any Town attack at bay and on 80 minutes the referee added to his poor decision making by not awarding FC a penalty for a deliberate handball in the penalty area.

The game ticked away with FC having worked hard having to settle for a admirable defeat.
