TWO young fighters from the Driffield Karate Academy came home with a handful of medals and prizes from the South Yorkshire Open competition in Sheffield this week.
Thomas Aylward, 12, won his age group fighting category and finished second in the kata competition.
Meanwhile, nine year old Aleisha Turner won a pair of bronze medals in her age category.
The pair also competed in the pairs competition, where they were eliminated in the first round.
Six other athletes from Driffield also took part in the competition, which was held at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield on Sunday.
They included six year old Leon Kirby, who was competing in his very first competition and reached the second round of his class.
The club's other competitors were Ellis Kirby, nine, James Lee, 14, Jonathan Stevens, Ben Lambert and Mark Loft, all adult class.
Ellis reached the second round in both of his categories, and competed alongside Thomas in the team event.
James, Jonathan, Ben and Mark, meanwhile, were all unable to progress beyond the opening round.
