Visitors enjoy vintage event

Waiting for Video...

Sledmere House was the place to be at the weekend, with more than a thousand visitors enjoying the nostalgia on offer.

The lucky visitors had the chance to take a step back in time at the extremely popular Nostalgia Weekend.

There was plenty of music, re-enactments, living history displays, talks and exhibitions all based primarily around wartime Britain.

Attractions included ‘Decades Music’, Pontefract Home Guard, Women’s Land Army display, heavy horse and wagon, 1940s farming machinery display, vintage toy train sets, trade stands and a “Monty’s Double”. There was also a huge display of vintage cars circling the lake on Sunday.

The majority of the people who visited the nostalgia weekend also took time to take a look around the Wagoners’ Museum, which tells the story of the Wagoners’ Special Reserve during the First World War using photographs, papers, memorabilia and a medal collection.
